Hello! My name is Jennifer Welch Solomon.  I am a cartoonist, illustrator and pattern designer working under the name deSIGN O’ THE TIMES from my studio outside Washington, DC.

I like to think that I am now in something of a second act, but I have always loved making art: drawing, creating comics, crafting dioramas in Altoid tins, and most recently, making digital art.  Creating bold and fun patterns is a bit of an obsession as well as a way of expression.  I also enjoy illustrating what I see and what I imagine, gaining inspiration from nature, neighborhoods, and the infinite array of humans. And, as you can tell, I am not afraid of orange. If you’re looking for bright, bold, and expressive, you’ve come to the right place.
